Dozens of students sitting for the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) at Government Secondary School, Namnai, in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State narrowly avoided tragedy on Wednesday evening when their classrooms collapsed amid a severe downpour accompanied by strong winds.
The incident occurred while students, teachers, NYSC corps members, and external exam supervisors were still on the school premises.

Many were reportedly trapped under the debris until residents of the area rushed to the scene and helped rescue the victims.
Several students sustained injuries, including suspected fractures, and are currently receiving medical attention at the town’s Primary Healthcare Centre.
The incident forced hundreds of final-year students and exam officials, including National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, to flee for their lives.
The collapse occurred while students were writing the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
