PSG beat Inter Milan 5-0 to clinch first champions league title

Date:

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) finally ended their long wait for European glory in breathtaking fashion, dismantling Inter Milan 5-0 to win their first-ever UEFA Champions League title and seal a historic treble under manager Luis Enrique.

The French giants, long burdened by expectations in Europe’s premier competition, delivered a five-star performance in the final at Wembley Stadium, asserting their dominance from the opening whistle.

Achraf Hakimi set the tone early, converting a low cross from teenager Désiré Doué in the 12th minute, before Doué’s deflected strike doubled the lead just eight minutes later.

PSG continued to control the tempo throughout, suffocating Inter’s midfield and exposing their defensive frailties. Doué, who was named Man of the Match, added a third in the 63rd minute, calmly slotting the ball into the bottom-right corner to put the result beyond doubt.

Ten minutes later, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia made it four, racing behind the Inter defense to beat Yann Sommer in a composed one-on-one finish.

Substitute Senny Mayulu capped the rout in the 86th minute with a beautifully worked team goal, sealing one of the most one-sided Champions League finals in recent history.

Inter Milan, who were dreaming of a treble just weeks ago, endured a nightmare evening. Simone Inzaghi’s side struggled to create meaningful chances, managing just 0.49 expected goals from eight attempts, while PSG amassed 3.23 xG from their 23 efforts on goal.

The victory marks a new chapter in PSG’s history, finally conquering the competition that had eluded them for over a decade despite heavy investment in star talent.

Having already lifted the Ligue 1 title and the Coupe de France, this win completes a memorable treble for the Parisians.

They now turn their attention to the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, where they are set to face Atletico Madrid in their opening match.

Inter will also feature in the tournament, beginning their campaign against Mexican side Monterrey, but the mood around the Nerazzurri is likely to be somber after ending the season empty-handed.

For PSG, though, this victory is not just a crowning moment—it is a statement. Europe has a new champion, and Paris is finally at the pinnacle of club football.
