Defection: No plans to leave PDP, says Adeleke

Date:

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has addressed and dismissed circulating rumours that he is preparing to abandon the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in favour of joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement released on Wednesday through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor reiterated his steadfast allegiance to the PDP following his visit to President Bola Tinubu in Lagos on Tuesday.

“Governor Adeleke remains a bonafide member and leader of the PDP in Osun State,” Rasheed stated, describing recent media reports as baseless and misleading.

The clarification comes on the heels of a widely discussed visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by prominent members of the Adeleke family. The meeting, held at the President’s Lagos residence on Tuesday, included Governor Adeleke, music star David Adeleke (popularly known as Davido), and Davido’s father, Chief Adedeji Adeleke.

According to the governor’s media office, the visit had no political undertones and was solely a family courtesy call.

“The media speculation about likely or imminent defection is fake news. Governor Adeleke remains a member and leader of the PDP in Osun State. The visit by the Adeleke dynasty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a routine courtesy visit. Any reading of defection agenda into the visit is mere fake news,” Rasheed said.
