It is time to move, Gov Eno hints on defection to APC

Date:

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has signaled a potential move from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during a town hall meeting in the Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency on Wednesday, the governor stated that “it is time to move,” suggesting a shift in political alignment to bring the state closer to the ruling party at the federal level.

Eno noted that the decision followed wide-ranging consultations, hinting that the move is strategic and aimed at fostering stronger ties with the federal government.

According to Eno: “We’re progressively moving forward, linking Akwa Ibom to the center. And I know you’re going with us. Are you going with us, so we can connect to the center?

“We thank you for your support. I’ve gone round to consult and so we have done enough consultation. The time has come that we will move. And we will go to where God is leading us.

“Do not be afraid. Believe in us. Believe in President Bola Tinubu because the future is bright. We are already a minority state in Nigeria.

“If we come again and start breaking ourselves into pieces, we become the minority of the minorities and cannot get anything.”

Governor Umo Eno has consistently expressed admiration for President Bola Tinubu, often emphasizing his belief that the President will remain in office until 2031.

Back in April, Eno had hinted at a possible defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) dwindling capacity to support his political aspirations and future goals.
