Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has dismissed the emerging coalition of opposition politicians seeking to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027, saying it does not align with the needs of ordinary Nigerians.
Speaking on Tuesday from his hometown, Igbere, the Abia North senator said what Nigerians truly need is a leader who can revive the economy and ensure food security, not political alliances aimed at power.
According to Kalu, President Tinubu has so far performed commendably and deserves a second term based on his achievements.
He maintained that no coalition would be strong enough to stop Tinubu’s re-election, as the president’s policies are already yielding results.

“People are talking about forming coalitions, but that’s not what the people are looking for,” Kalu said.
“What Nigerians want is proof that the economy can be rebuilt and that food will be available. President Tinubu is tackling hunger through his economic reforms, including naira stabilization.”
Addressing reports that his recent visit to Abia State Governor Alex Otti might put him at odds with his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kalu said the visit was purely personal and not a political endorsement.
He also expressed concern over the activities of vandals in Abia North who have been stealing electricity cables and damaging infrastructure.
Kalu assured residents that he is working with the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to restore power to affected communities.
On his relationship with Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, the senator stated that there is no rift between them.
However, he called on the Deputy Speaker to publicly declare whether he intends to contest for governor of Abia State in 2027.
