Court moves Nnamdi Kanu’s trial to DSS headquarters

Date:

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered that the ongoing trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), be relocated to the headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Justice James Omotosho issued the directive to facilitate the inspection of a shipping container allegedly used by Kanu to import a radio transmitter into Nigeria.

The equipment is believed to have been used for broadcasts on Radio Biafra.

The relocation of the trial venue comes as part of the court’s efforts to allow for critical evidence examination in the terrorism case against the separatist leader.

Kanu is currently standing trial on terrorism-related charges stemming from his campaign for the secession of Biafra from Nigeria.
