Benue State Police Command has arrested a man, identified as Torngusha Usuwe, for allegedly murdering his mother during a domestic dispute in Gungul Village, Ukum Local Government Area of the state.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, around 2:30 p.m., during a heated argument between the suspect and his mother.
According to counter-insurgency expert Makama Zagazola, who shared the account via his X handle, Usuwe allegedly struck his mother on the left jaw with a stick, causing a severe fracture.

The impact was said to have resulted in profuse bleeding from her mouth and ear. She was immediately rushed to Zege Nyion Clinic in Gungul for treatment but was pronounced dead around 8:00 p.m. that same day.
Police were alerted to the incident following a report by a relative of the deceased, Terwase Usuwe.
Officers from the Benue State Command responded promptly, documenting the scene and transferring the woman’s remains to the Gungul Memory Integrated Morgue for autopsy.
The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
