Senate postpones screening of Tinubu’s new Ministerial nominees

Date:

The Senate has postponed the screening of seven ministerial nominees originally scheduled for Tuesday.

Senator Basheer Lado, the Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, announced the postponement in a brief statement issued around noon in Abuja.

According to Lado, the decision was made to provide the nominees with additional time to finalise their necessary documentation.

While he did not specify a new date for the screening, sources indicate that it is likely to be rescheduled for Wednesday.

The statement titled: “Postponement of ministerial screening” reads: “The scheduled screening of Ministerial Nominees has been postponed by the Senate.

“This is to allow all nominees to conclude all aspects of documentation and pre-screening exercises.

“The screening has been rescheduled for Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 12 noon sharp. We thank you for your understanding and patience.”

The seven ministerial nominees put forward to the Senate by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu last Thursday include: Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; Muhammadu Dingyadi for Labour and Employment; Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu for State Foreign Affairs; and Dr. Jumoke Oduwole for Industry, Trade, and Investment.

Others include Idi Mukhtar Maiha for Livestock Development, Yusuf Ata for State Housing and Urban Development, and Dr. Suwaiba Ahmad for State Education.
