Tunde Bakare, serving overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church and former presidential aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has dismissed speculations suggesting that his recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu was driven by personal interest.
Bakare, who visited Tinubu at his Lagos residence on June 4, addressed the rumours during a recent sermon, insisting his intentions were not self-serving.

“Some still believe I went there to settle myself. Settle myself how? When have I ever done that? Even what they gave me in the past, I returned. What exactly am I seeking?” Bakare questioned.
He further revealed that during the meeting, he urged President Tinubu to wield his authority responsibly and not abuse the power of his office.
Bakare has been openly critical of Tinubu in the past.
In an April 20 national broadcast in Lagos, he advised the president to stop “playing God” and instead focus on implementing a comprehensive programme to address the nation’s mounting challenges.
