Tuface Idibia urges action over Benue killings, says condemnation not enough

Date:

Renowned music artist Innocent Idibia, popularly known as Tuface, has called on government authorities and stakeholders to go beyond mere condemnation and take concrete action to prevent further bloodshed in Benue State.

In a video making rounds on social media on Monday, June 16, the Benue-born artiste expressed deep concern over the ongoing violence in his home state, which has claimed nearly 100 lives and left many others injured in recent weeks.

Clearly distressed, Tuface lamented the repeated cycle of attacks and called for urgent, meaningful intervention to stop the killings and bring lasting peace to affected communities.

He said: “My heart is heavy. I am terribly sad and terribly angry. What is going on in my state, Benue State, has become a national emergency. I can’t wrap my head around it.

“I don’t know what to say at this point in time. It is going to be business as usual, you condemn it. This has to stop. It has to involve everybody.

“This is not child’s play. It is becoming ridiculous. It is annoying. I don’t know where to start expressing my sadness, anger, grief, or frustration. Every time we call on governors and presidents. This is not funny anymore.

“It has gone beyond condemning. Serious action needs to start to take place; every stakeholder needs to come together and fight this. There is a solution. Let us be serious with it.”
