2027: I’m open to serving one term, handing over to North – Peter Obi

Date:

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s former presidential candidate, has expressed readiness to support a coalition deal that limits him to a single term in office, with a planned transition of power to the North in 2031.

Obi emphasised that his political ambition is rooted in principles of character and integrity, not a hunger for power.

He made this known during a Space session on X titled #PeterObiOnParallelFacts, which drew over 10,000 live listeners and nearly 3,000 comments from participants.

“If the agreement is one term, I will leave on May 28, 2031 — not even May 29.

“I am not desperate to be president.

“I am desperate to see Nigeria work,” Obi said, in response to a question from a user named Balactic.

Obi also noted that upholding zoning and respecting any agreement within the coalition reflects political maturity.
