In a major stride against terrorism, the Nigerian military has confirmed the elimination of a notorious terrorist warlord, Yellow Dambokkolo, during a high-stakes operation in Sokoto State.
Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, announced the development on Tuesday, stating that the mission was based on actionable intelligence and carried out by troops of Operation Fasin Yamma in collaboration with hybrid forces, air assets, and allied security units.

“Troops of Operation Fasin Yamma, in conjunction with Hybrid Forces supported by Air Component and other security agencies, conducted an intelligence-led operation during which they engaged bandits and fleeing terrorists,” Kangye said.

“During the encounter, a notorious terrorist kingpin, known as Yellow Dambokkolo, who for years has devastated residents of Eastern Sokoto, suffered serious gunshot wounds. He subsequently died yesterday from the injuries sustained during the fierce battle with our troops.”
Kangye described Dambokkolo as more feared than even Bello Turji, another infamous terror leader still at large. Dambokkolo is believed to have orchestrated the 2021 Shinkafi massacre in Zamfara State, where several passengers were burned alive in a bus.
The military also revealed that Dambokkolo was heavily reliant on pentazocine, a potent narcotic, to maintain his reign of terror. With his death, the armed forces are now intensifying their efforts to locate and apprehend Bello Turji.
“Our exultant troops of Operation Fasin Yamma, with this renewed resolve, are on the hunt for Bello Turji, who has been in hiding,” Kangye added.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Armed Forces to eradicating insecurity and urged citizens to maintain active support for military campaigns nationwide.
