Opposition heavyweights Atiku, Obi, El-Rufai, others converge in Abuja

Prominent opposition leaders from various political affiliations are currently gathering at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja for the rescheduled launch of the rebranded African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The event, initially slated to take place earlier on Wednesday at a hotel in Asokoro, was unexpectedly called off.

According to reports, the hotel withdrew its venue offer despite confirming full payment, citing its inability to proceed with hosting the event.

Those in attendance at the new venue include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi; Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory (FCT); former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai; and ex-lawmaker Dino Melaye.

Also spotted at the venue are former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalong; media personality Dele Momodu; and ex-Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam.

Other notable figures include former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Emeka Ihedioha, and retired Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar.

Former Senate President David Mark is expected to chair the proceedings.
