NLC threatens nationwide action over rising hardship, insecurity

Date:

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has issued a strong warning about a potential nationwide strike in response to the worsening economic conditions, growing insecurity, and what it describes as coordinated assaults on the rights of Nigerian workers.

Following its Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting held at the 12th June Cultural Centre in Abeokuta, Ogun State, over the weekend, the NLC expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation faced by the country’s working class and poor.

The union warned that the level of suffering among ordinary Nigerians has reached a breaking point, and urgent intervention is required to avoid a full-scale social collapse.

It emphasized that workers would not remain passive while the country’s economy and democracy continue to unravel. The NLC’s leadership resolved to take decisive action unless immediate measures are introduced to mitigate the hardship confronting millions across the country.
