Pedro’s brace fires Chelsea into Club World Cup Final

Date:

Joao Pedro produced a sensational performance, netting twice to send Chelsea into the final of the FIFA Club World Cup following a convincing win over Brazilian side Fluminense.

The forward, who began his professional journey at Fluminense before heading to England, opened the scoring with a superb long-range strike in the first half.

Out of respect for his former club, Pedro kept his celebration subdued.

He later doubled Chelsea’s advantage in the second half with a powerful finish, sealing a potential showdown with either Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain in the final.

Fluminense had their moments but were unfortunate not to level the score in the opening period. Marc Cucurella came to Chelsea’s rescue with a crucial clearance off the line.

Shortly after, the Brazilian side believed they had earned a penalty when Trevoh Chalobah handled the ball in the box. Though the referee initially pointed to the spot, a VAR review led to the decision being overturned.

The second semi-final, featuring European giants Real Madrid and PSG, is scheduled for Wednesday.
