Fashola missing again at Lagos LG polls

Date:

Former Lagos State Governor and ex-Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, was noticeably absent from his polling unit on Saturday during the local government elections, where he was expected to cast his vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Fashola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and his wife, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola, were not sighted throughout the voting period, which ran from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., according to reports monitored by Breakingng.com.

This marks the second consecutive local government election in which Fashola has been absent, as he also missed the 2021 exercise.

Journalists positioned at Polling Unit 002, located at State Junior Grammar School (Special) on Itolo Street, Eric Moore, Surulere, began waiting as early as 8:19 a.m. when electoral officials arrived to set up.

While some members of the press left after hours of waiting, others stayed until voting ended—hoping the former governor would show up.

Despite having 1,355 registered voters, only 213 turned out to vote at the unit where Fashola was expected.
