Cole Palmer wins Golden Ball Award at Club World Cup

Cole Palmer, a Chelsea midfielder, won the Golden Ball as the best player in the Club World Cup after scoring three goals, two of which came in the final against Paris Saint-Germain.

Palmer, a 23-year-old who joined the Blues from Manchester City two years ago, scored the first two goals and helped João Pedro on Chelsea’s third. Palmer also scored in the 2-1 quarterfinal win over Palmeiras.

Chelsea’s Robert Sánchez won the Golden Glove as the best goalkeeper, while PSG’s Désiré Doué, 20, was named Best Young Player.

Real Madrid’s Gonzalo García won the Golden Boot for most goals with four. He was tied with Benfica’s Ángel Di María, Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy and Al Hilal’s Marcos Leonardo, and García won the award on a tiebreaker with one assist.
