The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has issued a strong warning to the Nigerian public against engaging in transactions with three purported companies, citing fraudulent incorporation documents and non-existent registration numbers.
The CAC stated that SPEF Cooperative Society Ltd, UPIL Staff Cooperative Society Ltd, and PREM Staff Cooperative Society Ltd are operating with fake certificates of incorporation, each displaying two different registration numbers (RC numbers) that are not recognized in the commission’s official records.
The specific fraudulent RC numbers associated with these entities are: SPEF Cooperative Society Ltd: RC 1265884 and 512862, UPIL Staff Cooperative Society Ltd: RC 1265837 and 553220, PREM Staff Cooperative Society Ltd: RC 1265844 and 545901.
The commission explicitly warned that “Anyone that transacts any business with the above-mentioned companies does so at their own risk.”

To mitigate such risks, the CAC advises potential partners and investors to always verify registration details directly through its official portal before finalizing contracts or making any payments.
In a related development aimed at improving its services, the CAC recently launched an AI-powered business registration platform on July 3.
This new system is designed to streamline the incorporation process, offering features such as instant name reservations, automated business-name suggestions, and same-day registration for businesses using a National Identification Number (NIN).
Furthermore, the commission announced plans to review its service fees starting August 1, with the goal of making its services more efficient and cost-effective for the public.
