A 70-year-old man Stephen Irobunda has allegedly killed a young man, Bright Odizuru, in Ohokobe Ndume, Umuahia North LGA of Abia State.

Mr Irobunda shot the victim on Saturday during an altercation between him and some youths in the community.

Confirming the incident to Daily Post, community sources disclosed that the victim, Odizuru, alongside other youths, were playing football near Irobunda’s house during local government election, which got the suspect vexed.

Irobunda allegedly fired gunshot into the air to scare away the youths.

The youths, in reaction to the gunshot, returned to Irobunda’s house to know why he was trying to intimidate them.

The victim was further infuriated and drew his gun again, shooting Odizuru in his abdomen which eventually led to his death in a hospital.

The incident angered the Ohokobe Mbaocha youths who pounced on the suspect and attempted to kill him before he was saved by security agents.

The youths also further tried to burn down his house until they were pacified by the security agents.
