Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, joined by the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, and other governors from the South-West, welcomed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday at the Gateway International Airport in Iperu, Ogun State.
President Tinubu was in the state to participate in the eighth-day Fidau prayer held in honour of the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.

The visit was disclosed via a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) by the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun.
“President Bola Tinubu has arrived at the Gateway International Airport, Iperu, Ogun State, ahead of his visit to Ijebu-Ode to attend the eighth-day prayer ceremony for the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.
“He is accompanied by First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, and is received by a delegation of dignitaries led by the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, Chairman of the Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, and other governors in the South-West,” Olusegun wrote.
The event is being held at the Dipo Dina International Stadium in Ijebu-Ode, a prominent venue in the region.Oba Sikiru Adetona, who died on July 13 at the age of 91, was laid to rest the following day in accordance with Islamic traditions.
He had served as Awujale for 65 years, making him one of the longest-reigning monarchs in Nigeria. His influence extended beyond the traditional institution into national discourse, earning him widespread respect.
Prior to the ceremony, heightened security measures were reported around key locations in Ijebu-Ode, including the stadium, the late monarch’s palace, and his private residence in Igbeba.
