The southern states, including Edo, Enugu, Ondo, Delta, and Bayelsa, will also see moderate rain by late afternoon.
By Wednesday, thunderstorms and rainfall are expected in northern states such as Katsina, Kano, Bauchi, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe, Borno, and Kebbi. The FCT and surrounding central states may encounter cloudy skies in the morning with likely rainfall later in the day.
Southern cities such as Ebonyi, Edo, Delta, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom are forecast to experience heavy rainfall.
NiMet also cautioned that strong winds may accompany these weather patterns and advised the public to secure outdoor items, avoid travel during heavy downpours, unplug electrical devices during storms, and stay clear of weak trees or structures.
Airline operators have been urged to obtain up-to-date, airport-specific weather information from NiMet to ensure safe flight planning.
The agency advised Nigerians to stay informed through its official website (www.nimet.gov.ng) and verified social media channels.
