The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Assembly for granting approval to the Southeast Investment Company (SEIC), a corporate offshoot of the South East Development Commission (SEDC).
President Tinubu gave the green light for the SEIC on July 18, 2025. The investment firm is set to launch with a capital base exceeding N150 billion, aimed at fostering industrial development and invigorating private sector engagement across the Southeast region.

The establishment of the company was disclosed via an official statement from the Presidency, and the Certificate of Incorporation was formally presented to SEDC at a State House event in Abuja.
Ohanaeze emphasized that beyond its economic potential, the SEIC is positioned to galvanize private capital, foster industrial competitiveness, and boost development in the region.
In a press release signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ezechi Chukwu, Ph.D, the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator Azuta Mbata, stated: “I have no doubt that apart from its finance generation potentials, this laudable initiative would equally serve as a viable stimulant for sustainable economic ventures in the zone.”
He called for strong private sector involvement in the company’s operations and urged that it be managed with professionalism, transparency, and accountability to ensure long-term impact and sustainability.
