How Cosby Show star, Malcolm-Jamal Warner died

Renowned Hollywood actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner has passed away at the age of 54 while vacationing in Costa Rica, multiple sources confirm.

Warner reportedly drowned after being caught in a powerful ocean current.

According to ABC News, the cause of death was asphyxia due to drowning, and his body was recovered on Sunday afternoon.

TMZ reports that Warner was rescued from the water by beachgoers and was brought ashore where emergency responders from the Costa Rican Red Cross tried to revive him.

He was declared dead at the scene. His remains have since been transferred to the Judicial Morgue in San Joaquín de Flores, Heredia, where an autopsy will be conducted.

Adding to the tragedy, the Costa Rican Red Cross also confirmed to TMZ that a second person was critically injured during the same incident and is currently receiving medical attention at a local clinic.

The individual’s condition has not been updated.Warner, best known for his iconic role as Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, was a household name throughout the 1980s.

His performance earned him an Emmy nomination and a place among television’s most recognized talents.

His career continued with roles in Malcolm & Eddie and voice work on The Magic School Bus, where he brought characters to life for a generation of children. Warner was also a talented musician, winning a Grammy Award in 2015.

More recently, Warner had been hosting the podcast Not All Hood, with the latest episode released just days before his death.

Though public about his professional life, Warner was known for keeping his personal affairs private. He is survived by his wife and daughter, whose names have not been disclosed.

Warner was 54.
