The show of support underscored the national pride the team’s achievement has stirred.

Their victory parade will culminate at the Presidential Villa, where President Bola Tinubu is expected to officially host and honour the team.

The Nigerian side etched their names in history on Saturday after a dramatic comeback against host nation Morocco in the final. Falling behind by two goals, the Super Falcons battled back with resilience and spirit to seal a memorable 3-2 victory — making it ten WAFCON titles in as many finals.

The match began in favour of the Moroccans, who seized an early lead in the 13th minute. A loose ball fell kindly to tournament top scorer Ghizlane Chebbak, who made no mistake as she drilled her shot past Nigeria’s goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie.

Morocco extended their lead in the 28th minute when Mssoudy latched onto the ball on the edge of the box and unleashed a powerful left-footed drive into the bottom corner, doubling the advantage for the hosts and putting Nigeria on the brink.

Trailing 2-0 at halftime, the Nigerian side came out for the second half with renewed energy and tactical focus, turning up the intensity in pursuit of a comeback.

Their persistence bore fruit in the 63rd minute when Ijamilusi hooked the ball back into the area, inadvertently striking the hand of Morocco’s Benzina.

The referee pointed to the spot, and Okoronkwo stepped up to coolly convert the penalty, giving Nigeria a lifeline.

Eight minutes later, Okoronkwo turned provider. She darted down the right flank, cut inside the box, and picked out Ijamilusi with a precise pass.

The young striker tapped in the equalizer, leveling the scoreline at 2-2.Nigeria completed the turnaround in the 88th minute. A deep free-kick delivery met the extended toe of Jennifer Echegini, who nudged the ball over the line from close range, sending the Nigerian contingent into wild celebrations.

With this win, the Super Falcons not only reaffirmed their dominance on the continent but also inspired a nation with their fighting spirit and unyielding determination.
