The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of six Nigerian Law School students who were abducted along the Benue-Taraba border on July 28, 2025.
According to a statement issued Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Udeme Edet, the students were en route from Anambra State to the Yola campus of the Nigerian Law School in Adamawa State when they fell into the hands of kidnappers near the state boundary.

Edet stated, “Please be informed that the police have successfully rescued six law students of the Yola campus, who were abducted on July 26, 2025. They were safely released and reunited with their families this morning, August 1, 2025.”
News of the abduction first surfaced during the Nigerian Bar Association’s North-Central Regional Security Summit in Makurdi on July 28, when NBA President Afam Osigwe expressed concern over the growing security threats in the region.
