Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, has voiced support for forward Ademola Lookman following his public revelation about his desire to exit Italian side Atalanta after submitting a formal transfer request.
On Sunday, Lookman posted statements via Instagram and X, expressing disappointment over his treatment by the club and explaining why he had chosen to go public.

“Many months of broken promises and what I feel has been poor treatment towards me as both a human being and as a professional footballer,” he wrote.
He noted that prior to the statement, efforts were made behind the scenes to resolve the issue amicably.
“Sadly, I feel I have no choice but to speak out for what I believe is right, and I feel that enough is enough.
“It had already been decided that it was the right time for me to move on and experience a new adventure. Myself and the club ownership were in agreement that this summer was the right time for a new chapter.
“Despite now receiving an offer in alignment with what I believe had been discussed, sadly, the club are blocking the opportunity for reasons I do not understand”, he said.
In response to his outcry, the official X account of the Super Eagles posted a message of solidarity on Sunday: “We stand with Ademola Lookman @Alookman.”
Reports indicate that the Nigerian international is seeking a move to Serie A giants Inter Milan.
However, Atalanta has reportedly resisted the move, creating a deadlock that has left the 26-year-old forward frustrated.
