Kano State’s Commissioner for Transportation, Ibrahim Namadi, has resigned in response to controversy surrounding his involvement in the bail of suspected drug kingpin, Sulaiman Danwawu.
The resignation came shortly after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf received the findings of a committee that investigated the matter.

Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Director-General of Media and Publicity at the Government House, released a statement confirming Namadi’s resignation on Wednesday.
“As a member of an administration that has consistently championed the fight against the sale and consumption of illicit drugs, it behoves me to take this step—painful as it may be,” Namadi stated.
“While I maintain my innocence, I cannot ignore the weight of public perception and the need to protect the values we have collectively built.
“He also expressed gratitude to the governor and reaffirmed his commitment to the state’s anti-drug stance.
“I must, as a good citizen, strive to protect, preserve, and uphold the trust and vision we have worked so hard to instil in our dear state,” he added.
The governor accepted the resignation and wished Namadi well. He also emphasized his administration’s unwavering stand on justice, accountability, and the fight against drug-related offences.
The fact-finding committee, led by Special Adviser on Justice and Constitutional Matters, Aminu Hussain, concluded that Namadi had failed in due diligence before standing as surety for the suspect.
According to the report, his actions undermined the state’s zero-tolerance policy on drugs and violated the trust placed in political office holders.
