Amaechi not a factor in 2027 presidential race, says Rep. Leke Abejide

Date:

A member of the House of Representatives, Leke Abejide, has stated that former Rivers State Governor Chibuike Amaechi is not a contender in the 2027 presidential race.

According to Abejide, who represents the Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency in Kogi State, Amaechi lacks the political relevance to win an election, even in his home state of Rivers.

In an interview on “Mic On,” the lawmaker claimed that a coalition of leaders, including Atiku Abubakar, Rauf Aregbesola, David Mark, Rotimi Amaechi, and Peter Obi, would force members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) out of the party.

However, he only identified Abubakar and Obi as strong politicians capable of attracting significant support. Abejide concluded that Amaechi is “no longer a politician” and holds no current political sway.

He said: “Amaechi is not a factor in the 2027 election; he can’t win in Rivers State.

“He’s not a politician now; he was just a politician before. We’re talking about people who can pull a crowd.

“You talk about Atiku; I agree. You can talk about Obi; I agree. Amaechi is out of the calculation.”
