The family of former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretary, Sir Rex Onyeabo, has announced his passing at the age of 80.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Enugu, his son, Dr. Obiora Onyeabo, confirmed that the veteran politician died peacefully on August 7.

“With heavy hearts but gratitude to God for a life well spent, the Onyeabo family of Enugu State announces the passing of our patriarch and statesman, Chief (Sir) Rex Chuma Onyeabo (KSM),” the statement read.
Chief Onyeabo held multiple traditional titles during his lifetime, including Eze-Ugo 1 of the Abuja Igbo Community, Onwa na-etili Ora 1 of Ugbawka, Ijele 1 na Akaegbe-Ugwu, and Ada-Idaha of the Efik Kingdom.
A founding member of the PDP, he became the party’s National Secretary in 1999 and later served on its Board of Trustees until his death.
The family noted that details of his funeral arrangements will be made public in due course.
