PDP inaugurates 44-member zoning panel to decide 2027 presidential candidate

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated a 44-member zoning committee ahead of its 2025 Elective National Convention.

The committee’s main task is to determine the distribution of key party positions, including deciding the geopolitical zone that will produce the presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration, which took place at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, was conducted by the Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum.

The committee is chaired by Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State.

Damagum charged members to conduct their work with fairness, equity, and in the spirit of unity, keeping both party cohesion and national interest at heart.
