MC Oluomo Sworn in as NURTW National President

Date:

Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, was officially sworn in as the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) at the union’s national secretariat in Abuja.

His appointment follows his emergence through consensus during the Quadrennial Delegate Conference held at the union’s Zonal Secretariat in Osogbo, Osun State, on Saturday.

The election, which saw participation from four states in the Southwest—Ogun, Lagos, Ekiti, and Ondo—was part of a regionally zoned arrangement set by the union’s national body.

The swearing-in ceremony was marked by vibrant celebrations, with a large crowd enthusiastically welcoming Akinsanya to the secretariat amid songs and cheers.

Akinsanya was formally introduced to key members of the National Administrative Council (NAC) and the Central Working Committee (CWC). Shortly after, the official swearing-in process commenced, with the union’s Legal Officer, Mercy Ibeh, overseeing the proceedings.

Alongside Akinsanya, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede was sworn in as the Vice President for the Southwest region, while Akeem Adeosun took an oath as a Trustee of the union.

Akinsanya emphasised the importance of unity within the union and called for calm among members.

He assured them that the welfare of the workers would be his top priority during his tenure. His leadership, he promised, would be focused on improving the lives and working conditions of union members across the country.
