Onanuga Slams Atiku Abubakar for ‘Unrealistic Economic Fantasies, Petty Politics’

Date:

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has sharply criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, accusing him of promoting unrealistic economic fantasies and engaging in trivial political tactics.

This latest rebuke comes amidst an ongoing exchange between the presidency and Atiku, who has recently put forward his proposals for addressing the nation’s economic difficulties.

Atiku, in a statement last week, claimed he could not envy President Tinubu, alleging that the current administration’s policies were causing widespread hardship for Nigerians.

Responding on Sunday, Onanuga reminded the public that Atiku and his ideas were resoundingly rejected by the electorate in the 2023 presidential election.

He underscored that Atiku’s continued involvement in the political discourse was little more than a distraction from the pressing issues facing the nation.

“Atiku’s critiques of Tinubu’s presidency are mere harebrained propositions devoid of realistic alternatives.

“He must reckon with the decades of mismanaged economy inherited by the current administration, including exorbitant subsidy expenditures far exceeding government earnings from crude oil,” he said.
