Ex-gov Yahaya Bello presents self to EFCC

Date:

Former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, on Tuesday presented himself before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) again.

Sources close to the EFCC revealed that the former governor appeared at the commission’s office on Tuesday, accompanied by his legal team, rather than the current governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, reports Channels TV.

This development follows the Supreme Court’s recent dismissal of states’ challenges to the constitutionality of the anti-graft agency.

It was further confirmed that the former governor arrived at the EFCC office in a black Hilux, driving himself and accompanied by his lawyers.

During the last court session on November 14, the EFCC requested an adjournment to Wednesday, November 27, citing the 30-day period stipulated in the summons issued against Bello.

Meanwhile, the EFCC granted administrative bail to his co-defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, and sought an extension of time for the first defendant’s appearance.

Bello is wanted to account for N110 billion which the EFCC alleges he misappropriated while he was governor.
