Panic swept through the Trademore Estate early Monday morning when a devastating fire broke out at a bustling market along Umar Musa Yar’Adua/Airport Road in Abuja.
The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Tosin Adeleke, an eyewitness, while speaking with The Nation, described the scene as chaotic, with flames rapidly consuming the shops around 4 a.m. In a desperate attempt to salvage their belongings, shop owners scrambled to protect their goods from the raging inferno.
As of now, authorities are working to assess the full scope of the damage and uncover the fire’s origin.

He said: “It is sad. We are not certain about the cause of the fire, but an electrical fault cannot be ruled out.
“Efforts were made to contact both the Federal Fire Service and the Federal Capital Territory Fire Service, but the situation was intense”.
Adeleke added that residents eventually reached out to the fire service team at Dunamis Church, who arrived at the scene around 5 a.m.
He said after two hours of battling the blaze, personnel from the Federal Fire Service stations at the EFCC and Sauka successfully extinguished the fire.
