Kano Gov dismisses SSG, five commissioners, scraps Chief of Staff position

On Thursday, December 12, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State announced the dismissal of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, citing health reasons for the decision.

In addition, the governor abolished the position of Chief of Staff, previously held by Alh. Shehu Wada Sagagi.

Furthermore, Governor Yusuf removed five commissioners from their respective positions.

The affected officials include Ibrahim Jibril Fagge, Finance Ministry; Ladidi Ibrahim Garko, Culture and Tourism; Baba Halilu Dantiye, Information and Internal Affairs; Shehu Aliyu Yammedi, Special Duties; and Abbas Sani Abbas, Rural and Community Development.

In a statement issued by his spokesman, Sanusi Bature, the governor directed the dismissed officials to report to his office for potential reassignment.

He emphasised that the reshuffle was part of a broader political realignment within his administration aimed at enhancing governance and improving service delivery to the people of Kano State.

The changes take immediate effect and are expected to optimize the state’s performance.
