Police arrest four over shrine murder of man in Delta

Date:

The Delta State Police have arrested four individuals, led by 30 years old Efe Onoetiyi, for the murder of Paulinus Okon, whose remains were discovered at a shrine in Otokutu axis of the state.

Paulinus went missing on September 8, 2024, after leaving with Efe, a close friend.

Initially denying involvement, Efe extorted over ₦20.7 million from Paulinus’s family under false pretenses of aiding in his rescue.

Okeimute Gaga, another suspect, confessed that on the night of the murder, they bound Paulinus and beheaded him.

The herbalist Lawrence Joseph buried the head at his shrine.

Efe orchestrated the crime to cover up his fraudulent activities involving ₦30 million from Paulinus for a nonexistent property.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, confirmed that the four suspects are in custody and will be prosecuted.
