Reports claiming that Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s convoy was ambushed by armed robbers in Taraba State has been refuted by the Adamawa State Police Command.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Commissioner of Police Moris Danwambo denounced the social media account of the incident, calling it both misleading and entirely false.
CP Danwambo clarified that on December 19, while the governor’s convoy was returning from Taraba, an advance security vehicle encountered a roadblock set up by criminals.
He explained that the advance vehicle, which is typically positioned ahead of the main convoy as part of VIP security protocols, came upon the obstruction before the rest of the convoy reached the area.
Acknowledging the bravery and swift response of the security team, the Commissioner praised the officers for their professionalism and foresight.
He also urged social media users to verify their information before spreading unverified claims.
Additionally, he expressed gratitude to journalists, both local and national, for their ongoing support in promoting public safety and peace education.
