Imo: Catholic Priest arrested for shooting dead teenager in church

Rev. Father Joseph Enyinaya, a Catholic priest, has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing a young boy who threw a banger at St. Columbus Catholic Church in Amaimo Ikeduru Local Government Area, Imo State.

According to residents, the Catholic Priest pulled out his revolver and shot the young boy who reportedly threw the banger inside the church.

The incident happened on December 31, and police confirmed the priest’s arrest.

Imo police spokesman, Henry Okoye, said on Thursday: “The priest has been arrested, and the body of the boy has been recovered and deposited at Atta Ikeduru Mortuary.”

Okoye stated that a thorough investigation has been launched to determine the remote facts surrounding the occurrence.

“The police investigation is expected to shed more light on the events leading up to the incident,” he said.
