5 die in road accident along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

On Sunday night, a lone accident occurred at the Fatgbems bus stop on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, killing five people.

Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, verified the development on Monday, claiming that the accident involved a Mercedes Benz jeep.

Odutola attributed the cause of the accident, which occurred at about 11:30 p.m., to reckless driving by the driver of the Mercedes Benz.

“The accident occurred when the driver of the Mercedes Benz, going towards Mowe direction, suddenly lost control, hit the culvert, somersaulted and turned to the opposite direction.

Three men and two women inside the vehicle were confirmed dead, while one person sustained injuries,” she said.

According to Odutola, the injured victim was taken to AZ Carezone Hospital, while the deceased were deposited at the morgue of Real Divine Hospital, Ibafo.

She added that the families of the victims have been contacted and advised motorists to always drive with caution.
