Trevor Noah to host 67th Grammy Awards for fifth consecutive year

Date:

South African comedian Trevor Noah will return as the host of the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, marking his fifth consecutive year in the prestigious role.

The ceremony, set for February 2 in Los Angeles, will take place despite the city’s ongoing battle with devastating wildfires.

In a joint statement, The Recording Academy and CBS emphasized that this year’s event will carry a renewed sense of purpose, with a focus on supporting wildfire relief initiatives and honoring the bravery of first responders.

“We are committed to aiding those affected by the wildfires and paying tribute to the heroes who risk their lives to protect others,” the statement read.

To assist those impacted by the fires, The Recording Academy and MusiCares have pledged $1 million in relief funds for individuals in the music industry and launched the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort.

Noah’s return to the Grammy stage solidifies his place in Grammy history, becoming the first comedian to host the awards five times. Previously, only music legends like Andy Williams, John Denver, and LL Cool J have hosted as many times, with Williams holding the record at seven.

At 40, Noah will not only host but also produce the live show. The comedian, who is nominated for Best Comedy Album for his Netflix special ‘Where Was I’, has shared the unique pressures of hosting the Grammys.

In an interview with ‘Variety’, he confessed that the thought of telling a joke and facing a potential look of disappointment from icons like Beyoncé is something he works hard to avoid. “To have the look of disappointment from someone you admire… I do not wish for that experience,” he said. “So I work twice as hard.”

This year’s Grammy Awards will also spotlight notable nominees such as Beyoncé, whose groundbreaking album Cowboy Carter earned her an impressive 11 nominations. Billie Eilish follows with seven, and Taylor Swift garnered six.

The star-studded ceremony will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with fans around the world eagerly awaiting what promises to be a memorable night in music.
