Four suspects wanted in connection with foiled drug shipments to Saudi Arabia, Qatar

Date:

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has issued a public call for assistance in locating four individuals, believed to be key figures in a high-stakes drug trafficking operation tied to Lagos narcotics kingpin, Alhaji Suleiman Ganiu, also known as Barryshine.

Barryshine, the Managing Director and CEO of Barryshine Suleiman Nigeria Ltd., was apprehended on August 26, 2024, following a two-year investigation.

His arrest marks a significant blow to the drug network he allegedly orchestrated, which was linked to multiple attempts to smuggle cocaine across international borders.

The NDLEA had placed Barryshine under surveillance after uncovering his involvement in at least four foiled drug exportations through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, targeting Saudi Arabia and Qatar between 2022 and 2024.

In a statement released on Monday, NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi revealed that Barryshine’s drug mules, who had been caught attempting to smuggle narcotics, have been prosecuted and convicted.

Barryshine now faces a string of serious criminal charges in connection with his alleged activities.

But Barryshine’s arrest is just the beginning. The NDLEA is now intensifying its efforts to bring additional members of his syndicate to justice. Four new suspects have been declared wanted for their involvement in the same trafficking ring. The individuals named are:

Olarenwaju Abdulai, also known as Alhaji Loyingbo, Oluwafemi Abidoye, also known as Igbono, Baba Eje, Ade Iwaya, Femi Iwaya, Olumuyiwa Ilori, also known as Murphy, Alate Bukki, an associate of Kaffy Travels

These individuals were officially declared wanted following a court order by Justice Akintayo Aluko of the Federal High Court in Lagos, who also directed that their photographs and details be widely circulated in a public notice.

The NDLEA has urged anyone with information about the whereabouts of these suspects to come forward, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation in dismantling drug trafficking operations. Citizens are encouraged to contact the nearest NDLEA command, reach out via the toll-free helpline at 080010203040, or engage with the agency through its social media channels.

As the investigation continues, the NDLEA remains committed to tracking down all involved in the syndicate and stopping the flow of illicit drugs both within Nigeria and beyond its borders.
