Irate youths set police station ablaze in Ondo

Date:

In a shocking turn of events, enraged youths have set fire to a police division in Ifon, a border town in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The devastating act of arson follows the tragic death of a young man, who was allegedly tortured to death while in police custody.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening, but as of Sunday, the full details remained unclear.

Sources within Ifon, which lies close to the Edo State border, revealed to Daily Trust that the young man’s death sparked a wave of protests from locals and friends of the victim.

The unrest is believed to have been triggered by an earlier confrontation on Valentine’s Day.

When news of the death spread, angry protesters gathered and marched to the police station, where they overwhelmed law enforcement personnel in a tense and highly charged atmosphere.

The situation escalated quickly, with the station being set ablaze by the furious crowd.

In response to the escalating violence, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the event, stating that additional police units had been deployed to Ifon.
