Troops crush Boko Haram fighters, capture infamous terror collaborator

On February 17, 2025, Nigerian Army troops launched a decisive operation in the Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, eliminating 10 Boko Haram fighters and seizing a significant cache of weapons.

The operation targeted a notorious Boko Haram stronghold in the Iza forest, where the terrorists were overwhelmed by the troops’ superior firepower.

The raid resulted in the death of 10 Boko Haram militants, while the remaining fighters fled. Troops recovered two AK-47 rifles and two loaded magazines in the aftermath.

Additionally, a prominent terror collaborator, known for extorting ransom for various terrorist and bandit groups, was captured during the operation.

In a separate operation in Zamfara State, Nigerian troops conducted a successful ambush in Tunfa village, Shinkafi Local Government Area, based on reliable intelligence.

The operation led to the neutralization of a bandit and the arrest of a high-value suspect linked to the Sani Black terrorist faction. This arrest led to a raid in Tunga village, a hideout for bandits involved in cattle rustling, resulting in the capture of several bandits and the destruction of their infrastructure.

Further action took place in Sokoto State, where troops arrested a suspected terrorist at Illela Market in Illela Local Government Area, based on human intelligence.

Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Army Staff, praised the troops for their outstanding efforts and operational precision.

He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to eradicating terrorism, banditry, and all forms of criminal activities across the country. Oluyede also encouraged citizens to continue providing actionable intelligence to support the military’s ongoing mission.
