The Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the FCT Police Command has successfully apprehended four notorious kidnappers responsible for terrorizing the Federal Capital Territory.
According to a statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the arrests were made on October 1, 2024, after the command acted on credible intelligence. The suspects, identified as Yau Sani, a.k.a. Baba (an ex-convict), Nuhu, a.k.a. Giwa, Kabiru Mohammed, and Yusuf Hassan, were apprehended at their hideouts in Sauka, Abuja, where they had been living among the general population.
The kidnappers confessed to orchestrating several abductions across the FCT and its neighboring areas, admitting to the deaths of seven victims during their criminal activities. Their attacks spanned multiple locations, including Dakwa, Dawaki, Aco Estate, Dupe Village, Zuma Rock, Kuchiko Village, and various villages in Niger and Kaduna states.
The suspects further led police operatives to a hideout in Gauraka Forest, Suleja, Niger State, where law enforcement recovered four AK-47 rifles, thirteen AK-47 magazines, and 162 rounds of live 7.6 mm ammunition.
Additionally, the kidnappers confessed to plotting attacks on several government institutions and estates within the FCT, plans which were proactively thwarted by the police.
