The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 69-year-old man and his 17-year-old accomplice for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Asaba-Benin Expressway.
The suspects, who were reportedly traveling to Kaduna, were apprehended by officers from the Dragon Patrol Team 02 after intercepting their navy blue Sharon Space Bus (registration number DKA 408 LM, Kaduna) near the National Open University in Onicha-Ugbo, Aniocha North Local Government Area.

A search of the vehicle uncovered seven pump-action rifles and 1,600 cartridges, which were hidden beneath the back seat. The prime suspect, identified as Yahuza Magaji, allegedly claimed to be a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
He confessed to purchasing the firearms in Onitsha, Anambra State, with plans to transport them to Kaduna.
The Delta State Police Command has reassured the public that a full investigation is underway, with authorities working to trace the source of the weapons and determine their intended purpose.
