Taraba State Police have apprehended two individuals suspected of being involved in the murder of a police officer and a civilian in Wukari.
The suspects were arrested during a coordinated operation on the night of March 6, 2025, between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
The operation, which was carried out by police officers in collaboration with local hunters, was based on reliable intelligence.
The operation was led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Wukari. Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported on X (formerly Twitter) that the suspects were ambushed by the tactical team along a bush path behind the Federal University Wukari, resulting in their capture.

The arrested suspects were identified as Godwin Ajaver, 28, from Abako in Katsina-Ala LGA, Benue State, and Austin Emmanuel, 25, from Jootar in Ukum LGA, Benue State.
Ajaver reportedly confessed to being part of the gang involved in the February 25, 2025, killings of Police Corporal Ahmadu Yusuf and civilian Gaddafi Saidu.
However, he denied being present at the scene of the attack. Emmanuel, the second suspect, was allegedly recruited by Ajaver and was arrested while attempting to join the criminal group.
While the suspects were unarmed at the time of their capture, Ajaver has been providing valuable intelligence to police about the gang’s activities.
