Nine surveyors were abducted on Tuesday in Ondo State while working at a site along the Ilu-Abo axis in the Akure North Local Government Area.
Sources confirmed that the kidnappers reached out to the families of the victims, initially demanding a ransom of N100 million, which was later reduced to N50 million after negotiations.
One anonymous source revealed that the families had raised N20 million for the release of the victims, but the kidnappers rejected the amount, holding firm to their N50 million demand.

In response to the ongoing wave of kidnappings and killings, women in Akure, the state capital, staged a protest calling for an immediate end to the violence.
The protesters, marching from Ijemikin to the Governor’s Office in Alagbaka, decried the growing insecurity in the region.
The group, led by concerned women from the community, voiced their frustration over the increasing number of abductions and killings in the state.
They demanded that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa take swift action to tackle the rising activities of kidnappers, armed herdsmen, and other criminal elements terrorizing the area.
