Popular Nigerian TikToker, Peller, has apologized for calling Afrobeats singer, Runtown, an ‘up-and-coming artist’.
The controversy started when Peller rejected a suggestion to feature Runtown in a webcast, implying the singer was unknown and unsuccessful.
This sparked outrage on social media, with many criticizing Peller for disrespecting Runtown’s contributions to the music industry.
In his apology, Peller acknowledged that he was aware of Runtown’s influence but spoke ignorantly.
Explaining that he was too young to fully appreciate Runtown’s music when he started, Peller said “when I was hearing Runtown’s music that time, I was too young to even use a phone. Peller never come town when Runtown dey run town. Please, forgive the poor boy. Let him breathe. God won’t shame us. I’m sorry, my brothers and sisters.”
Peller’s apology was met with mixed reactions, with some accepting his apology and others feeling he should have been more informed before making such a statement.
