I’ve been getting death threats for asking Nigerians not to criticise FG on TikTok – Peller

Date:

Popular TikTok personality, Habeeb Hamzat, known professionally as Peller, has said he’s been receiving death threats for urging Nigerians to stop criticizing the federal government on the platform, claiming that someone even threatened to shoot him around Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

The controversy started when Peller warned his followers that the government might ban TikTok if the #30DaysRantChallenge continued.

Peller’s stance was met with opposition, particularly from human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju, who questioned Peller’s audacity to tell Nigerians how to express their frustration.

Peller clarified that his video was “misrepresented” and that he didn’t suggest people should rant in markets, but rather that celebrities shouldn’t be forced to participate.

The #30DaysRantChallenge began when Ushie Rita Uguamaye, a serving corps member, criticized federal government policies and President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.

The challenge has gained momentum, with many Nigerians sharing their frustrations online.

African China, a Nigerian musician, has also joined the challenge, releasing a song that scores President Tinubu’s government an F9.
