Tension over missing genitals at Abia mortuary

Date:

A disturbing incident occurred on Tuesday at a mortuary along the Aba-Ikot Ekpene road in Obingwa LGA, Abia State, when the testicle of a male corpse was discovered to be missing, sparking outrage among locals and the deceased’s family.

The alarming discovery was made when the deceased’s sister requested to inspect her brother’s body before it was prepared for burial.

After carefully examining the body, which had been in storage at the mortuary for over a year, it was revealed that one of the testicles was missing, triggering a wave of anger and disbelief among the family and surrounding community.

Angry relatives and villagers gathered at the mortuary, demanding answers. Faced with the escalating tension, some of the mortuary attendants attempted to flee, but they were caught and severely beaten by the crowd.

As the situation worsened, more villagers who had entrusted their loved ones to the facility rushed to evacuate the bodies and transfer them to other mortuaries. In the midst of the chaos, several properties at the mortuary were destroyed by the furious youths.

In the aftermath of the incident, many villagers expressed their distrust of the mortuary, stating that they would personally inspect the bodies of their deceased relatives at other facilities before allowing them to be taken home for burial.
